Audition Requirements for Guitar

In order to be accepted into the music department it is necessary to pass a number of examinations. Along with a theory and aural-perception exam you will also be required to pass a performance exam on guitar. You will need to prepare three contrasting pieces (of your choice) that display both your technical and musical abilities. Your selections should feature at least one piece from the classical repertoire. If the other selections are not classical then a jazz, flamenco or "new-acoustic" arrangement would be appropriate.

Classical pieces may be selected from the Royal Conservatory of Music Guitar Series - Grade 6, published by the Frederick Harris Music Company.

As well, the following audition pieces are available online. Please note that you will need the Scorch plug-in for Internet Explorer in order to hear or see the following scores. Click here to get Scorch
